Gaming in a lull
video gamesxbox seriesnintendo switchpcFor a long time I’ve prided myself on my knowledge and love of Video Games. I’ve read books and articles on their history, and I’ve followed along on new releases and product announcements. It’s a hobby that has been around for a long time, and a space that always seems to offer something new, which keeps things fresh.
With all that said, I’d probably also say my favorite genre of games are RPG’s[1]. These are games that resonate with their story arc’s, or abilities to go anywhere and do anything. They are amazing, and something I think about when I’m daydreaming sometimes.
I’ve hit a lull though. I can’t seem to get into these games, and by that I mean start them (progress through the few hours of ‘tutorial’ gameplay, learning the lore and gameplay). It’s the paralysis of starting a new game/world, and not wanting to invest the initial time, when I know most of the time the reward is worth it.
Here’s to hoping the lull ends soon. Maybe for the time being I need to step away from playing as many games, and consume other sorts of content until the desire to play is back. 🤞
Western, Japanese, really any flavor ↩︎
